Bonfire Radicals and Cafe Lola Benefit Gig
Hermon Chapel Arts Centre, Chapel Street, Oswestry, SY11 1LF
IMPORTANT: Please note change of venue and time. The flyer (left) shows the old venue and time.
The Shrewsbury and North Shropshire Green Party are banishing the blues with an evening of great music featuring the intimate Cafe Lola and the exuberant and unique Bonfire Radicals who have been critcally acclaimed after several barn-storming festival appearances this year. The Hermon Chapel provides the perfect atmosphere, and there will be a bar and vegetarian/vegan food.
The Green Party isn’t bank-rolled by corporate donors. Instead we rely on events such as these to raise the money we need to fund leaflets and deposits for election campaigns. Please come along, have a great time and raise some money for a good cause.
The Hermon Chapel has a limited capacity and we are expecting to sell-out so please buy your tickets early. Tickets are available from Rowanthorn, Old Chapel Court, Oswestry or Shlurp, Church Street, Oswestry and online at TicketSource. If we have any tickets left on the night entrance will be £15.
'Raucous and eclectic, sheer merriment in a gorgeous set of ideas and influences, guaranteed to leave you smiling from ear to ear.’ - **** Songlines
'This is tradition woven into an uninhibited gathering of inspired originality.’ – Folk Words
Birmingham-based Bonfire Radicals have emerged from the Folk/World scene with a fresh approach to traditional tunes and a host of creative original material. These six inspired and highly talented instrumentalists weave together raucous woodwind, delicate vocals, progressive violin, hard hitting bass, psychedelic electric guitar and percussive beats in a manner that reels the listener in without fail.
Drawing on their eclectic backgrounds, the band chart many divergent influences upon their sound - medieval polyphony, jazz tinged swing, 1960s/70s Canterbury sound, as well as Klezmer and all points in-between.
The band’s debut album ‘White Peacock’, released in 2016, caused a great stir and attracted an abundance of rave reviews resulting in an ever since increasing popularity on the U.K.’s summer festival circuit and culminating in headlining at the Birmingham Symphony Hall. Known for their highly-spirited stage presence, the Bonfire Radicals’ own enthusiasm for their music is undeniable.
'The Bonfire Radicals are quite a discovery - get this album, go grab the background notes, then grab the chance to go see them live!’ – Fatea

Cafe Lola (support act)
If you have been lucky enough to catch the Lola's at The Hermon then we know you will want more. If you haven't then this will be a real treat of a night in store for you. After their sell-out album launch earlier this year, Cafe Lola gave us a full on evening of entertainment raging from Cabaret to Klezmer so we could not think of a better band to support the highly energetic Bonfire Radicals.
