Strike for the Climate on Friday 20th September 2019
Over the last few months, young people across Britain have risen to demand real climate action, by striking from school. On September 20th, they’ve called for a General Strike.
Up and down the country, Greens have been declaring climate emergencies on councils, taking direct action for climate justice, and supporting the young people leading the way where our lawmakers have sat on their hands.
We now know July was the hottest month in history. This September, we must demand action.
We must take to the streets to make this strike the biggest mobilisation for climate action in British history.
The world is waking up. Action is starting, but we need to move much faster. You can help ensure that happens this September. Together, we can deliver a planet that meets everyone's needs while living within physical limits.
If you can, arrange a day off work with your employer, or make whatever arrangements you need to, and join us on the streets. Let’s strike for the climate.
The plan is for an initial gathering in the Square at 11:00am, followed by a march up Pride Hill for a picnic between 12:30pm and 1:30pm.
Everyone is asked to come along during that hour if they can, there will be speeches including Councillor Julian Dean at 12:30pm.
