Shropshire Council recognises the climate change challenge

30 December 2018

Global warmingShropshire Council has agreed that:-

  • The Council will lobby Central Government to come forward with proposals for local climate change measures.
  • There will be a new lead on the Shropshire Cabinet to act on the environment.
  • A 'Task and Finish' group of councillors will develop an Action Plan to reduce carbon emissions.

These proposals are a result of Green Party Councillor Julian Dean's Motion to take urgent action on climate change which was unanimously accepted by Shropshire Council in December. Julian says: "This is a good starting point in Shropshire, but we now need to build a momentum to tackle the challenge of climate change, so I'm hoping to hear from residents with their ideas and suggestions of how we can make progress."
