What a Waste of Money

At the Oswestry Town Council meeting on Monday night, Green Party Councillor Duncan Kerr condemned Conservative-controlled for proposing to spend nearly half a million pounds on demolishing the public toilet block on Central Car Park and replacing it with a similar toilet block along with a new tourist information centre (TIC) and a café. To make matters worse a further £100,000 was approved for repairs to the current TIC in Church street.

Natalie Bennett's Visit to Shropshire

More than 70 people turned out on a frosty night to hear Natalie Bennett and other invited panellists discuss future food security and farming. The event was organised by the local Green Party to highlight an issue of concern in light of rapid climate change and Britain’s impending withdrawal from the EU with whom we do a great deal of food trade.

Natalie Bennett to head discussion on farming and food security

On Monday evening Natalie Bennett will be speaking at a public meeting in Shrewsbury, sharing a panel with representatives from Harper Adams University, Shrewsbury Food Hub and the National Farmers Union to discuss ‘Food and Farming – Our future food security depends on farmers’. The event is free to attend and will take place in the United Reformed Church by English Bridge at 7.30pm on Monday 28 November.

Members of the Green Party turned out in force at the Shirehall on Thursday to demand some straight answers from the Tory run council. Cabinet members were asked questions on a range of issues that the public are concerned about including threats to public health services, library cuts, councillor paid allowances, poor air quality, loss of green spaces, and the state of Shrewsbury’s bus station.
